My Teaching Philosophy
While I am not a teacher with my own classroom at this time, I have a vision of the teacher I want to be and the classroom I want to have. I understand that it is a process that will evolve over time and probably never be perfect, because I will always be working on making it better. From the limited time I have observed in classrooms I know that I want to have an open, save environment. I want my students to feel safe and mutual respect for one another as well as me as their teacher. I definitively have an essentialism type management stance however, I strive to become more of a constructivist. I really would like my students to have a say on what goes on in the classroom, our classroom. Students need a safe environment where they can be comfortable. Developing rules and routines with them can help them to feel some ownership in the classroom, which I feel is important. I want to help my students develop a love of learning and to desire knowledge. I want my students to learn what they need to be a successful member of society. This is what I will strive for when I am a teacher.
